Dr Hannah Leng
British Association of Sexual Health and HIV South-West/ Wessex Committee Representative
Dr Leng is a Specialty Doctor working in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare. During her GP training she developed an interest in SRH and completed the Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare and Letters of Competence in Subdermal Implant Techniques and Intrauterine Techniques. She split her time between working as a GP and in Sexual Health, before taking an opportunity to work full time for Gloucestershire Sexual Health Services in 2015. Since then she has become a Faculty Registered Trainer and has passed the FSRH membership exams. Dr Leng enjoys a varied working week including integrated sexual health, complex contraception, pregnancy advisory and training clinics. She is South West representative for the BASHH SAS Group and a member of the FSRH SAS Discussion Group.
Dr Rebecca Rea
Rebecca Rea qualified in medicine from Oxford University in 1999. She has previously worked in acute adult medicine and intensive care holding posts in the UK and Australia, before obtaining her CCT in primary care. She has passed MRCP, MRCGP and part 1 MFSRH postgraduate medical qualifications.
During her years as a GP she developed an interest in women’s health and contraception.
For the last 9 years she has worked in the Gloucestershire integrated sexual health service which provides testing/treatment for sexually transmitted infections, contraception including long-acting reversible contraceptive (LARC) provision, and care for women in the Pregnancy Advisory Service.
She has developed an interest in training and teaching, attaining Faculty Registered Trainer (FRT) status with the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (FSRH). She trains other healthcare professionals working towards the Diploma of the FSRH and Letters of Competence for intrauterine devices and implant procedures. In addition she delivers teaching sessions throughout the year on behalf of the Sexual Health service; for example teaching and assessing school nurses in the provision of emergency contraception.
She is married with 2 sons aged 14 and 11 and a 1 year old fox red Lab. She previously rowed for Oxford in the Boat Race and currently sings in the Cheltenham Bach Choir.
Dr Laurie Darlaston
Dr Laurie Darlaston has over 25 years of experience in Menopause medicine and is on the British Menopause Society specialist register.
She has practised in Women’s health at home in the UK and overseas.
As a GP for 25 years with a special interest in gynaecology and sexual health she runs a weekly NHS clinic for menstrual disorders and sexual health procedures, in her own practice.
She is interested in the impact of lifestyle and exercise on long term health.
Dr Darlaston has negotiated Menopause services locally with health care commissioners, and has been involved in the Menopause Clinic at Gloucester Royal Hospital.
She arranges educational lectures for patient groups and medical colleagues and runs Menopause workshops.
